The Announcement You’ve Been Waiting For

by Namaste Gurl on June 17, 2012

Hello, Namaste Gurl readers!

Wow, It’s been a good number of months since my last post! Most of you may have your assumptions about my absence from the blogworld: Either she disappeared from the face of the earth, or she just has so much going on in her life during this time that she’s not able to post regularly anymore. Or to even write a close-out post, for that matter. I fall into the latter category, so for those of you who thought that, your absolutely- positively correct.

My sister, Monica, and I celebrating Mother's Day and the fact that I baked a totally delicious carrot cake in one piece!

Unfortunately, when I decided to take a temporary leave from from blogging back in January, I just didn’t have the time and space to give a proper public announcement about it. And as the months progressed and that time did become available, I just didn’t see any point in publicizing my absence because of the guilt and shame that came with it. I received emails, FB messages, and instagram notes from many asking where I had disappeared to, and or if I was planning on coming back; I was happy to answer any and all of the messages I got to the best of my knowledge (and I apologize for not getting back to some of you).  But honestly, I really haven’t made a concrete, written- in- stone decision about returning to the blog community yet. It’s been heartbreaking to have taken this lengthy of a leave from posting and engaging in the blogworld, it’s not something that I necessarily “choose” to do on a whim, rather circumstances didn’t allow for me to blog full- time at that time and they continued to not. However, my culinary creativity in the kitchen has gone nowhere; I’m still the same ole’ girl whisking, spilling, squirting, baking, frying, grilling, and blending away endless scrumptious foodie creations. I so wish I could share them all with you through blogging– my desktop and left hemisphere are about packed to the brim– and I really have come up with so many delicious, yet totally odd savory and sweet delicacies.

Celebrating my 20th birthday (!!) with some rather tasty triple- chocolate raspberry coconut donuts.

As you’ve read above, there’s no definite answer in my words so far– and that’s as much as I know right now.  I truly really do plan and hope to return to entering the blog community again, but just not yet. When I do plan to come back, my incoming will most definitely be loud and clear, so no worries at all. For those of you who’d like to see my current and latest food creations, you’re more than welcome to follow me on instagram or twitter @emmiller92 (instagram) @NamasteGurl (twitter).  Comments and suggestions are welcome and appreciated :) .  I do hope this somewhat informative post cleared up any confusion about my absence, and please don’t hesitate to message me via here or twitter, instagram, or Facebook whether it does or doesn’t.  I look forward to hearing from readers, especially the ones who have followed me through my whole blogging journey and are disappointed about my break, and for the ones who just recently found my blog and are no longer interested since I don’t update my blog anymore.  To both groups, I’m totally apologetic for any feelings or emotions that came up over my leave, and again direct you to above where you can find me pretty frequently.

Here’s to health, happiness, compassion, and peace,

Till next time~

Where To Start….

by Namaste Gurl on January 6, 2012

Hello!

Quite literally, where do I begin at.  To say that this my winter vacation thus far has been relaxing and low key would be an understatement, although it has provided a sense of relief since my rigorous school semester ended.  With the holidays at their peak– meaning lots of family and various holiday related activities– I have definitely kept busy as well as taken this time to rest and take a breather (but I’ll get into that later!).

As much as many of you don’t want to think about the holidays for awhile,  reminisce with me one, two weeks back….

Presentsssss opened!
Classic family brunch.
Egg veggie scramble for them and tofu scramble for me, as well as roasted herbed potatoes, buttered toast, fruit salad and enough juice to go around.
Not a creature was present, not even a mouse!
Christmas Eve 2011.  Mindblowing.
……..
Then Christmas dinner happened, where many family members and friends gathered around the table to celebrate and end a very special day.
Huge salad with roasted beets, apple, walnuts and balsamic vinaigrette, Pumpkin cornbread bake, roasted root veggies, and roast (for the omnivores).
A major hit among the table!
Made by yours truly.
A plentiful holiday it was, nothing more and nothing less could have been asked for. Lots of family, an abundance of delicious homemade food, spot- on weather and plenty of laughs– just the way every year should be ended. I hope everyone’s holidays were as rich and full as mine. :)
.**Blogging- break hiatus talk and the future for my blog to be continue. Stay tuned.
XO

Chili Three Ways

December 15, 2011

For a holiday gathering recently, I made a big ole’ batch of veggie chili to share for the people who did not want to take part in the main meat dish.  Not just any chili though…. Ashley’s cocoa chill.  Better yet, I threw it in my spiffy slow cooker and let it do the magic [...]

These Are A Few Of My Fav Things….

December 10, 2011

Hey, all! Wonder if I’ve disappeared into a black hole?  If you consider the library your second home and textbooks all you look at currently, then yes, i’ve been consumed by the black hole of FINALS.  On the plus side, i’ll be done in exactly one week from today, but until then it’s major serious [...]

Baby It’s Cold Outside: 3 Warming Holiday Soup Recipes

December 3, 2011

I don’t know what screams winter more than soup…. you tell me.  With the semester shortly wrapping up and the weather getting brisker, there’s nothing I crave more than a warming and wholesome bowl of good ole’ soup. And for me, that means chock full of legumes, whole grains, yummy spices and lots of vegetables. [...]

It’s Looking A lot like Thanksgiving.

November 24, 2011

As of now I’m humming, “It’s Looking A lot Like Christmas… er, Thanksgiving”. After four rather brutal hours of chopping, whisking, stirring, spilling, and cursing I completed my Vegan Thanksgiving dishes….. This year, just like every other, my family and I are heading up north to our extended families home where many other guests will [...]
